Located at an elevation of 3350 m, Keylong is the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti area of Himachal Pradesh – known as the peculiar, stirring, primordial precipitous and enjoyable place to explore during your holidays. The place has been a famous holiday retreat among famous people. Even, Rudyard Kipling uttered about the area "Definitely the God live here.” The direction to Lahaul takes a traveler over Rohtang Pass (3980 ml), Koksar (1st village of Lahaul) Sissu, Gondla and crossing the river Chandra Bhaga at Tandi during their holidays in Keylong.There are numerous wonderful places to explore during your holidays in Keylong. Tandi is one of the prime attractions at the distance of 8 km from Keylong on Manali – Leh Road. Located on the confluence of Chandra & Bhaga Rivers, it is the last point if you are travelling to the North of Keylong.
Sissu is another wonderful destination on the bank of Chandra at the distance of 15 km from Koksar. Wild geese and ducks take rest here, every spring and autumn from their way from Siberia. Gondla is another famous place at the distance of 18 km from Keylong on the right bank of River Chandra that is a famous fort visited by tourists. Udaipur is also in nearby areas of Keylong at the distance of 50 km that is known for Mrikula Devi Temple.
Natural beauty, flower filled valleys, crystal clear water sources and snow-capped mountain ranges are also among the prime destinations. Keylong is at the distance of 115 km from Manali; while Chandigarh and Delhi are at the distance of 690 km from Keylong.
Lahaul remains discontinue from exterior the world till mid June due to serious snowstorm and closing of Rohtang Pass. There is slight or no rain in monsoons. The environment remains dry and stimulating. The days are hot and nights are tremendously cold. Heavy or Light woolens are recommended.
